Packaging the systems driving a state-supported EO program for wider use.

Michigan has spent years building its Transition to Employee Ownership (TTEO) program into a working state-supported resource for businesses interested in transitioning to employee ownership.

Now the Michigan Center for Employee Ownership (MICEO) is documenting its winning recipe for EO conversions.

With EOX project funding, the MICEO is developing a practical TTEO Playbook that translates the program’s operating systems into a framework other State Centers can replicate.

The playbook covers:

• Business intake process for initial triage.
  
  
• Coordination with employee ownership service providers.
  
  
• Relationship management systems.
  
  
• Reporting and data practices.
  
  
• Templates and tools designed to shorten the setup process for State Centers pursuing similar programs.

The goal is not to recreate Michigan everywhere. It is to capture the parts of the program that can save another State Center time when an opportunity for state-supported technical assistance emerges.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Public funding opportunities do not always arrive on a convenient timeline. When they do, State Centers need more than a good idea. They need operating procedures, provider relationships, reporting systems, and a credible plan for administering the work.

MICEO has learned many of those lessons by actually running the program. Putting that experience into a usable playbook gives the rest of the State Center Network a much stronger place to start. Michigan's program success speaks for itself, with numerous EO conversions already underway...and that's something worth replicating.
